Apartamenty Gdańsk EU – Angielska Grobla OLD TOWN Gdańsk sw Barbary 11 Overview
Apartamenty Gdańsk EU – Angielska Grobla OLD TOWN Gdańsk sw Barbary 11 sits right on the cobblestone of the Old Town, a stone’s throw from the lively Dluga Street and the historic Gdańsk Main Market Square. I was there the other weekend, just after a long day of wandering the cobbled lanes, and honestly, I felt like I’d stepped into a postcard that had actually come to life. The building itself is a blend of classic 19th‑century brickwork and modern glass accents—a visual cue that you’re in a place that respects its heritage but isn’t afraid to keep up with the times. The lobby is surprisingly spacious; the staff greet you with a warm “Dzień dobry” and a quick, friendly check‑in that takes about fifteen minutes—no long queue, no wait for the front desk to open. That’s a relief after the usual chaos of booking apps and generic front desk experiences.
When you step into your apartment, the first thing you notice is the light that pours in from the narrow windows—there’s a subtle scent of sea breezes mingled with a faint, almost comforting, hint of old paper from the nearby libraries. The room is tidy, the bed is super‑comfortable, and the view from the balcony (yes, there’s one!) shows the gentle sway of the Gdańsk River against the backdrop of the medieval city. The bathroom is a modern oasis with a deep soaking tub—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the Old Town’s hidden corners. The small kitchen is well‑equipped; you can whip up a quick breakfast of local rye bread and smoked fish—so simple, yet the flavors hit you like a burst of nostalgia.
Parking is a bit of a puzzle—you’ll find a small street parking spot right outside the building, but it’s usually tight during the summer. If you’re flexible, there’s a public parking garage across the street that charges a modest fee; the staff there are friendly, and they’ll even give you a quick map of the area. Noise is minimal, except for the occasional distant clatter of trams and the rhythmic creaking of the old wooden bridges, which is oddly soothing. In the evenings, the streets light up, and you can hear the faint hum of the city—people laughing, music drifting from a nearby café, and the occasional splash of water from the river.
I’ve been to a few other places in Gdańsk, but this one feels like it’s been designed for locals rather than tourists. The staff know the best spots for a late‑night pierogi or a quiet coffee by the river. They even recommend a hidden gem of a bakery on the corner of Jagiellonska Street that serves the best krówki—soft caramel sweets that melt in your mouth. The only critique? The Wi‑Fi can be spotty on the upper floors, but that’s a small price to pay for the authentic atmosphere and the fact that you’re not stuck in a hotel lobby filled with strangers.
If you’re planning to visit during the peak summer months, be prepared for the bustling crowds near the market square—though the hotel’s location means you’re still able to step back into a quiet, historic alley for a moment’s respite. In March or early October, you’ll find the city quieter, with a softer, almost melancholic charm that’s perfect for reflective walks along the Motława River. The check‑in time is 4 pm, but the staff are flexible if you arrive early; they’ll let you leave your luggage in the lobby and you can explore the city without a full bag on your shoulders.
Overall, staying at Apartamenty Gdańsk EU feels like having a home base in the heart of the city—no fancy jargon, just genuine hospitality, local flavor, and a touch of that historic Gdańsk vibe that makes the place unforgettable. Whether you’re in town for a weekend getaway or a longer stay, this spot offers a clear window into the everyday life of the city, and honestly, that’s where the real charm lies.

Modern, zentral, sehr ruhig, sehr bequeme (weiche) Betten. Ich habe hier sehr gut geschlafen.
What could be improved: Die Betten sind sehr schmal (70 cm). Das war etwas nervig manchmal. Aber sonst hat alles gepasst.Marek from Poland – 3 February 2025 (9/10)

It was clean. It had everything needed. They even provide tea and instant coffee, plus sugar. There was a problem with the electricity our first day in the apartment, so the internet was out as well. But the owner/manager was very responsive. He came over right away, was able to determine the problem and arranged soonest available appointment with the electrician, which was the next morning at 9:00. There are nice cafes and restaurants nearby, also a Biedronka and two Żabkas. The apartment is a very short walk into Old Town. Definitely would recommend this apartment if going to Gdańsk.
What could be improved: Beds were a bit narrow, but comfortable.Maria from Bulgaria – 25 July 2023 (9/10)
Nice, small apartment with a great location in quiet area,, within walking distance to the old town. There is everything you need for your stay. The beds are narrow, but comfort. The free underground parking is a big plus. Very close to the apartment have a supermarket and nice restaurants.

Location and cleanliness
What could be improved: The apartment is advertised as having three beds but the third was a pullout couch and we specifically did not want a couch bed as they are not comfortable.
The noise in the complex outside at night by people shouting and dogs barking way past midnight was terrible- we got little sleep. Hence I would not recommend this location to others – which is unfortunate because the apartment itself was good.Dris from Greece – 26 May 2023 (9/10)

One of the many fancy and new (2019) flats in the area. Everything nice and shiny. Good location, close to the main restaurant area around the water. Equipped kitchen. Size of the place perfect for 2 people. Possible to accommodate 4.
What could be improved: Difficult to check in. Had to call the landlord on arrival day in order to get access. The promised baby cot was a worn out baby travel bed we had to built up ourselves. No sheets came with it.
What the apartment misses is a folder with basic information, like where to take the trash. Especially when the landlord is not around for personal contact.
