Apartamenty Gdansk EU – Angielska Grobla II OLD TOWN Gdańsk Angielska Grobla 5 Overview

Apartamenty Gdansk EU – Angielska Grobla II OLD TOWN Gdańsk Angielska Grobla 5 sits right on the cobblestone edge of the Old Town, a stone’s throw from the shimmering Motława River. When I first stepped out of the train station, the scent of freshly baked pierogi wafted from a nearby bakery—so good that I almost turned back just to grab a quick bite before checking in. The front desk was surprisingly efficient; the staff greeted me with a warm, almost-too-casual “Dzień dobry!” and handed me a key card that glowed a pleasant electric blue. I was on my way in under three minutes, which is a relief if you’re like me and have a tight schedule.

The building itself is a charming blend of old brick and modern glass. I parked my car in a small underground lot—there’s a tiny cubicle for each vehicle and a quick security check, nothing too fancy but it worked well. The street parking right outside the building is plentiful in the summer, but during the winter months it can become a scramble of nails and icy patches. Once inside, the lobby had a subtle, earthy scent from the polished wood and the subtle hint of sea breeze that comes in through the open windows. The concierge gave me a quick rundown of the city’s best spots: the St. Mary’s Church spire, the amber glass of the European Solidarity Centre, and the quirky street art on Ulica Długa. I appreciate how the staff actually know these places; they’re not just giving me a generic brochure.

My apartment was a cozy two-bedroom unit, the kind that feels like a home away from home. The living area had a comfy sofa, a sleek flat‑screen TV, and a small kitchenette that included everything you need: a kettle, a coffee maker, and even a jar of local honey. The bathroom was a bit cramped, but it had a bright, clear shower and a decent amount of towels—though the shower head was a bit old and didn’t have that high‑pressure feel you’re used to. The bed was a surprisingly comfortable king size duvet that kept me well‑rested, even though the room had a faint, nostalgic scent of old books from the nearby library. The windows opened onto a street that had a gentle hum of people walking and the occasional honk of a tram—definitely not noisy, but it kept the place lively. I’d say the building’s insulation could use a little improvement, especially during the winter when the pipes in the walls sometimes make a soft clinking noise.

One thing I found helpful was the free Wi‑Fi. The connection was stable enough for video calls and streaming, though the speed dropped a bit in the evenings when the whole block was online. I didn’t mind, because the apartment had a small but functional desk—perfect for a quick work session. The staff mentioned that the building’s Wi‑Fi is shared between apartments, so it’s less of a priority for them, but they did offer an extra router if you’re traveling with more devices. The front desk also had a small fridge stocked with bottled water and some snacks, which is a nice touch for those late‑night cravings. I grabbed a cold bottle of water after a long day of walking the old town’s streets, and the coolness was a welcome relief.

When it comes to timing, the hotel really shines in the shoulder seasons. In the summer, the streets get crowded, but the apartment is still a quiet sanctuary after a day of exploration. In the winter, the lights on the old town’s facades create a romantic glow, making it feel like a postcard. The only downside is that the building’s parking lot is a little lower than the street level, so you might need a couple of extra steps to get your car out. However, the staff were ready to help with a small lift if needed. Overall, Apartamenty Gdansk EU feels like a friendly, well‑maintained spot that offers a bit of everything—comfort, convenience, and a dash of local charm. If you’re looking for a place that gives you a real sense of the city’s pulse without the fluff, this is a solid pick.
