Apartamenty Collegia Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Apartamenty Collegia on Sobieskiego Street, you immediately get that “this is going to be good” feeling. The building has this elegant, restored character that fits perfectly with Gdańsk’s historic charm, but there’s something refreshingly modern about how it’s been updated. I mean, you can tell right away this isn’t your typical cookie-cutter hotel — it’s got personality, and the four-star quality shows in those little details like the well-maintained entrance and thoughtful lighting.
The Apartment Experience
Here’s what I love about this place — you’re getting a proper apartment setup, not just a cramped hotel room. Each unit comes with its own kitchen, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a night or two. You know what’s great? You can actually cook a proper breakfast or grab some local ingredients from the nearby markets and make dinner. The spaces feel lived-in but polished, with enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re camping in a shoebox.
Location Magic
The location is honestly where this place really shines — and I get why couples rate it so highly for romantic getaways. You’re right in the heart of things but on a quieter street that doesn’t get the tourist chaos. Sobieskiego puts you within easy walking distance of the Old Town’s cobblestone streets and those gorgeous merchant houses, but you can actually get a good night’s sleep. The Main Town Hall is maybe a 10-minute stroll, and you’re close enough to the Motława River that you can wander down for evening walks without planning your whole day around it.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here start well with their buffet breakfast — nothing fancy, but it’s got the essentials plus some local touches that make it feel authentic rather than generic hotel fare. What I really appreciate is how the parking situation actually works (which, let’s be honest, can be a nightmare in historic city centers). The staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood, so when you ask for directions or recommendations, you get real answers instead of rehearsed tourist trap suggestions.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something about Apartamenty Collegia that just works for people who want to feel like they’re living in Gdańsk rather than just visiting it. The combination of space, location, and that sweet spot between independence and hotel services hits differently than staying in a big chain property. Couples especially seem to love having their own space to retreat to after days of exploring, plus the romantic factor of staying somewhere with actual character. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels premature — you’ve gotten comfortable, and comfortable is exactly what you want when you’re trying to really experience a city.

Reviews of Apartamenty Collegia
Alex from Spain – 2 June 2025 (9/10)
Nice little room with everything I needed. It feels a bit like a college dorm, but in a cozy and functional way. The location was great, close to the city but still peaceful. I appreciated how convenient it was to reach shops, including a hardware store where I picked up a few things.
What could be improved: The floor felt a little dirty when walking barefoot, so it could have been cleaned better. But overall, the room and facilities were in good condition, and I have no major complaints.Jevgenija from Latvia – 3 May 2025 (8/10)

A good hotel. Very tasty breakfasts, clean new rooms, easy check-in. The option to book in advance and pay in cash upon arrival.

The staff was very friendly with an excellent breakfast to boot.
Generally pretty nice location with the bus stop right in front of the door.
Includes a microwave, which we often used.
What could be improved: Perhaps too few kitchen tools, with only one single, small pot for cooking.Debra from United States – 11 April 2025 (8/10)
Breakfast was wonderful. Staff very helpful at all times.

The rooms were spacious, clean, modern, comfortable, absolutely quiet and tranquil – genuinely great. I had colleagues who hesitated booking because they thought this might be a "student dorm", but it is far from a run down establishment. It is a truly modern, clean, airy room, with ample light and space. Even though I had to work close to the accommodation, I did take the bus to go to the center a few times. It stops right in front of the hotel. Further, the reception (always present), called a few times a taxi for me, which was there in less than 5 minutes.
What could be improved: I'd have liked slightly more options for breakfast. It is good, better even than most 3 star hotels, but the rooms were so excellent that I'd have felt really smug booking a place at such a low place, for such high quality accommodations, perfectly located for the purposes of my business AND with an amazing breakfast rather than good.Mariusz from Poland – 28 February 2025 (8/10)
Very nice stuff, great breakfast, really good quality of the rooms, very clean, really good internet. Highly recommended. Really great value for money.

What could be improved: Not comfortable crane in wash washstand

It is a good location. Staff is friendly. It is clean and has a lot of space to place your items. Conveniently, there is a microwave, electric kettle, and stove to prepare something. I liked the blackout curtains, and that is relatively quiet, so I could get good night sleep.
What could be improved: I struggle a bit with the tap to get the hot water to work. But then I managed the next day well. Also, I would recommend that they put in the toilet spare toilet paper. As one, sometimes, might not be enough.
