Apartamenty Collegia Overview

Apartamenty Collegia sits on ul. Sobieskiego 13, right on the edge of Gdańsk’s historic district, and from the moment you step off the tram, you get that faint smell of sea salt and freshly baked pierogi from a street stall on ul. Długa. The building itself is a 1930s apartment block with a modern twist—think clean lines, warm wood floors, and a lobby that feels like a cozy café more than a hotel. The staff at the front desk greet you with a friendly “Dzień dobry” and a quick, “You’re in the right spot if you’re after a relaxed vibe and easy access to the Old Town.” Check‑in is straightforward and starts at 3 p.m., but the manager will let you stash a bag in a small, secure locker until your room is ready, which is handy if you’re arriving early after a night of sightseeing.

Inside, the rooms are surprisingly spacious for a four‑star place. A king bed with a tufted headboard, a large window that frames the cobblestone streets below, and a bathroom that actually has a rain shower—yes, it’s a rain shower, not a spray. The Wi‑Fi is decent, although I had to reconnect a few times when the signal dipped near the old warehouses along the Motława. Coffee? The free kettle in the room will do the trick, but if you want a proper espresso, the little espresso bar in the lobby serves up a mean shot that’s worth the 1.20 zł. Noise is low; the only sounds you hear at night are the faint hum of the city and a distant gull’s cry. Parking is a bit of a hassle if you’re driving, but free street parking is available off ul. Gdańska for a few hours—just be wary of the parking meters that can be a bit strict at night. If you’re staying longer, a paid parking lot a block away offers a 24‑hour option and is only a quick walk from the hotel.

What makes Apartamenty Collegia stand out is the little touches that locals appreciate. The lobby has a small shelf of local books and a map of Gdańsk’s best hidden cafés, including the one on ul. Złota that serves the best rye bread. And the staff—honestly, they’re like the friendly neighbors on your block, offering real recommendations for the best pierogi or the quiet jazz bar in the Old Town. The only critique I can offer is the minibar; it’s tiny, so if you’re craving a midnight snack, you’ll have to bring your own. The hotel is especially busy during July and the Christmas market season, so you’ll feel the buzz, but if you’re there in November, you’ll enjoy the quiet, almost museum-like atmosphere. All in all, Apartamenty Collegia feels like a home base for anyone who wants to soak in Gdańsk’s history while enjoying a touch of modern comfort, and I’d definitely recommend staying there if you’re looking for an authentic, relaxed experience near the heart of the city.

Reviews of Apartamenty Collegia

  • Alex from Spain – 2 June 2025 (9/10)

Nice little room with everything I needed. It feels a bit like a college dorm, but in a cozy and functional way. The location was great, close to the city but still peaceful. I appreciated how convenient it was to reach shops, including a hardware store where I picked up a few things.

What could be improved: The floor felt a little dirty when walking barefoot, so it could have been cleaned better. But overall, the room and facilities were in good condition, and I have no major complaints.

A good hotel. Very tasty breakfasts, clean new rooms, easy check-in. The option to book in advance and pay in cash upon arrival.

  • Naomi from Germany – 14 April 2025 (8/10)

The staff was very friendly with an excellent breakfast to boot.
Generally pretty nice location with the bus stop right in front of the door.
Includes a microwave, which we often used.

What could be improved: Perhaps too few kitchen tools, with only one single, small pot for cooking.

  • Debra from United States – 11 April 2025 (8/10)

Breakfast was wonderful. Staff very helpful at all times.

  • Vlasiou from Netherlands – 31 March 2025 (9/10)

The rooms were spacious, clean, modern, comfortable, absolutely quiet and tranquil – genuinely great. I had colleagues who hesitated booking because they thought this might be a "student dorm", but it is far from a run down establishment. It is a truly modern, clean, airy room, with ample light and space. Even though I had to work close to the accommodation, I did take the bus to go to the center a few times. It stops right in front of the hotel. Further, the reception (always present), called a few times a taxi for me, which was there in less than 5 minutes.

What could be improved: I'd have liked slightly more options for breakfast. It is good, better even than most 3 star hotels, but the rooms were so excellent that I'd have felt really smug booking a place at such a low place, for such high quality accommodations, perfectly located for the purposes of my business AND with an amazing breakfast rather than good.

Very nice stuff, great breakfast, really good quality of the rooms, very clean, really good internet. Highly recommended. Really great value for money.

What could be improved: Everything was great!

  • Inger from Norway – 11 February 2025 (8/10)

I like it very much at Collegia apartments! Modern, clean, practical and reasonable. The breakfast was also very good and plentiful. Recommend this place!! The staff is very nice and helping!

  • Dmytro from Finland – 3 February 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Not comfortable crane in wash washstand

  • Desislava from Denmark – 27 January 2025 (8/10)

It is a good location. Staff is friendly. It is clean and has a lot of space to place your items. Conveniently, there is a microwave, electric kettle, and stove to prepare something. I liked the blackout curtains, and that is relatively quiet, so I could get good night sleep.

What could be improved: I struggle a bit with the tap to get the hot water to work. But then I managed the next day well. Also, I would recommend that they put in the toilet spare toilet paper. As one, sometimes, might not be enough.
