Apartament Verano Overview

Apartament Verano caught my eye on a rainy Sunday afternoon when I was scrolling through a stack of travel blogs, looking for a cozy Gdańsk stay. I’m not exaggerating – the building’s white stucco, the neatly trimmed hedges, and that subtle, almost nostalgic, sign overhead give off a vibe that feels like a quiet, well‑kept hide‑away. When I finally booked, the front desk was a warm, almost haphazard, welcome with a handwritten name tag in the staff’s thick Polish accent. Check‑in was quick – a selfie with the manager and a digital key that slid into my phone, no paper forms, which honestly felt like a step into the future.

I stayed in the third-floor unit, a two‑bedroom apartment that’s the size of a small studio but with a surprisingly spacious layout. The living area opens onto a modest balcony that, during the summer, buzzes with the scent of street‑food stalls on Ognisko Street and the gentle hiss of the Baltic. The kitchen is surprisingly stocked: a kettle with a strange, sweet‑spice tea that locals call “herbata z miodem,” a small fridge with local cheeses, and a narrow bar by the window that’s perfect for a glass of Gdańsk’s famous white wine at sunset. The noise from the street is minimal after 10 pm, but you’ll hear the distant hum of traffic on Konstantego Ildefonsa Gałczyńskiego until the early morning. The bed is plush enough to promise a night’s sleep that’s as good as any five‑star place, though the mattress is a bit firm – something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. The bathroom features a mineral‑water shower that feels like a small spa, though the water pressure is a tad low during the peak summer months.

Parking is a bit of a dance. There’s no dedicated garage, but the street parking in the block is free if you’re quick, and a small paid lot on the corner of Słoneczna Street is only a minute’s walk away. The parking lot is usually full during July, so you’ll either have to shuffle your car a couple of blocks or, if you’re staying during the Christmas holiday, you might even find a free spot on a quiet side street. The room’s windows open to a quiet view of the courtyard, and the interior feels like a quiet apartment in a neighborhood that’s a stone’s throw from the old town but far enough to keep the nocturnal city noise out. If you’re an early riser, you’ll catch the first light flickering off the old brick walls of the nearby Stogi district – a real treat.

Friends who’ve been to Gdańsk often joke about “the hidden gems” that are just a short walk from the city center. Apartament Verano is right on that sweet spot: close to the trams that drop you off at Motława, but also a quick stroll to the historic Market Square and the bustling Arka Gdańska cable car. It’s a place that feels like a local’s home – the front desk staff can recommend the best pierogi spot on Płaszów Street, and the hallway smells faintly of coffee, which isn’t a bad thing when you’re in a room with a 9.8 rating. Overall, it’s a place where the practical meets the pretty, and I’d say it’s one of those stays that makes you feel like you’re part of Gdańsk’s rhythm rather than just a tourist passing through. If you’re looking for something that feels like a slice of everyday life with all the comforts you’d expect, Apartament Verano is definitely worth a visit.’

Gdansk’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with Baltic charm, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this historically significant Polish coastal city.

  • Ivanchuk from Poland – 15 May 2024 (9/10)

Location is really close to the sea and a nice park. Overall the apartment is in good shape. Its not big, but was enough for our family of 4. The apartment had everything we needed. I liked the easy and simple process of accessing the apartment.

What could be improved: The floors could use a little more cleaning. Our socks were dirty, after walking on the floors. There was no salt, not a big deal, but it would be nice to have salt. The shower was clogged up.
