Apartament – U Wujka Overview

Apartament – U Wujka sits at 10 Jana z Kolna, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Long Market, but still tucked enough that you can hear the sea breeze instead of the traffic. I first spotted it on a rainy October afternoon, the building’s slate roof glinting against the gray sky. The entrance was a low, wooden door with a brass knob that looked like it belonged in a 19th‑century manor, which instantly gave me that old‑world charm vibe. I walked in, and the lobby was surprisingly minimalist – a clean, white space with a few potted plants and a wall of local art. The staff welcomed me with a quick nod and a grin; they seemed genuinely happy to help.

The check‑in process was quick, but the key system made me pause. The card reader is a little finicky – you have to swipe twice, and sometimes it delays the whole thing. Honestly, I almost left a note on my phone reminding myself to double‑check the card before heading out. For the room, I was pleasantly surprised. The layout is open, with a living area that spills out onto a small balcony overlooking the city. The bed was a king with a mattress that feels like a cloud, but the sheets had a slightly rough texture that made me feel like I was in a boutique hotel rather than a chain. The bathroom was a bit tight, but the shower had a great water pressure – you can feel the spray like a mini spa session. Wi-Fi is good, but it hiccups during rush hour, so if you’re a heavy streamer, you might want to plan around that.

Parking was a bit of a hassle. The street parking on Jana z Kolna is scarce, especially during the summer months when the city’s nightlife is in full swing. The hotel offers a small underground lot, but the rates are a tad high, and the elevator is slow – you’ll have to wait for a minute or two if you’re bringing a suitcase. Noise-wise, the hotel is surprisingly quiet. Even at 10 p.m., you can hear the distant hum of the city, but the walls are thick enough that you don’t feel the traffic from the main thoroughfares. The only thing that rattles a bit is the old heating system, which purrs like a gentle wind in the morning. After a long day of exploring, I found the beds to be a perfect refuge.

When I stepped outside, I was immediately drawn to the cobblestone streets of the Old Town. A short walk takes you to St. Mary’s Church, where the bells ring in a rhythm that feels like a heartbeat of the city. For lunch, I took a detour to the small pierogi spot on the Motława River – the dumplings were made fresh, and the aroma of smoked fish filled the air. The hotel’s location isn’t “convenient” in a generic sense; it’s more like a secret pocket of calm in a bustling heart. The locals will tell you that the best coffee is just two blocks away at a tiny café called “Kawa i Książka,” where the barista knows everyone’s name. If you’re traveling during the festival season, the streets get crowded, but the hotel’s windows keep you out of the most hectic crowds, letting you breathe in the city’s slow rhythm. For quiet hours, I recommend staying out of the busy market streets after 10 p.m. – the city tapers off nicely, and you’ll have a peaceful night’s sleep. I’d say that Apartament – U Wujka is a perfect blend of old‑world charm and practical comfort, especially for those who want to feel like a local rather than a tourist. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger over a cup of coffee long after your stay is over.

Reviews of Apartament – U Wujka

  • Kowals12 from Poland – 4 June 2025 (9/10)

Super mieszkanie dla większej grupy osób. Ogromnym plusem dwie łazienki – z dwoma prysznicami. Fajna lokalizacja.

  • Marcin from Poland – 5 May 2025 (10/10)

Wspaniały, czysty, przytulny, a zarazem ogromny apartament. Świetna lokalizacja i przemiły gospodarz. Gorąco polecam 🙂

What could be improved: Minusów brak 🙂

  • Kaś73 from Poland – 11 October 2024 (10/10)

    Wygodny i dobrze zaopatrzony apartament.

  • Piotr from Poland – 2 October 2024 (9/10)

Wygodne łóżka i świetna lokalizacja obiektu.

What could be improved: Było ok.

  • Rafał from Poland – 21 September 2024 (9/10)

Mieszkanie jest bardzo duże, dużo pokoi i 2 łazienki

What could be improved: Mała kuchnia, klatka schodowa przed mieszkaniem bardzo zniszczona

  • Dazedbear from Poland – 21 May 2024 (10/10)

Extremely freindly and helpful host. The place is exactly what you need for some chill time with group of friends. Lots of place to sleep and just hangout.

  • Yauheni from Belarus – 19 May 2024 (9/10)

Location is great, a lot of space, enough for 7 people, everything needed for a stay is there. Great communication with the owners

What could be improved: Trams might be too loud in the morning (only for the rooms with windows looking to the street)

  • Anna from Poland – 15 April 2024 (10/10)

Wszystko było super przygotowane dla naszej grupy.
    Łóżka baaardzo wygodne.Wszędzie blisko.

  • Magdalena from Poland – 14 April 2024 (10/10)

Bardzo fajne mieszkanie. Dużo pokoi, co jest ogromnym plusem. Właściciel bardzo miły i pomocny, szybko odpowiada. Polecam dla większej grupy! Dwie łazienki to strzał w dziesiątkę. Nasz pobyt tam był naprawdę bardzo przyjemny! Jeśli kiedyś jeszcze będę w Gdańsku większą grupą chętnie ponownie się tu zatrzymam.

What could be improved: Kuchnia jest malutka (ale funkcjonalna).

  • Agnieszka from Poland – 25 March 2024 (9/10)

Bardzo komfortowe mieszkanie dla 12 osob.
    Świetnie wyposazone.
    Kontakt z właścicielką.
    Ogromny parking.
    Tramwaj, autobus, wszedzie blisko.

What could be improved: Bardzo brudne okna.
    Zagrzybiona klatka schodowa.
