Apartament Targ Rybny – Gdańsk Old Town Overview

Apartament Targ Rybny – Gdańsk Old Town is the sort of spot that instantly feels like a local’s hideaway, not a tourist trap. I arrived around 3 p.m. on a breezy spring afternoon, and the front desk was a quick, almost silent handshake – no long line, no endless paperwork. The staff were friendly, but not overbearing, which honestly made the whole check‑in feel more like stepping into a friend’s apartment than a hotel lobby. The building itself is a charming two‑storey brick structure that blends perfectly with the surrounding Old Town architecture; the cobblestones on Targ Rybny Road give you that old‑world feel as soon as you step out of the elevator.

The apartment space is surprisingly roomy. The living area is bright, with large windows that let in the morning sun and the occasional distant chime from St. Mary’s bell tower. The décor is a tasteful mix of contemporary and vintage—think reclaimed wood tables, hand‑painted ceramic tiles that echo the city’s maritime history. The bed comes with a high‑quality mattress that feels like a cloud, and the linens are crisp, not too crisp, which is just right for a summer night. The bathroom is modern, with a deep soaking tub that looks out over a small balcony. I fell in love with the little touches: a local artist’s print on the wall, a set of antique silver spoons that double as a coaster set. And the kitchen? It’s fully equipped, with a small espresso machine that whirs to life before you even think about coffee. I spent a few mornings brewing a shot, listening to the gentle hum of the city, and enjoying the scent of fresh bread from the bakery on Głogowska Street that opens just a block away.

When it comes to the surroundings, this place is a goldmine for anyone who loves authenticity. Just a two‑minute walk brings you to the bustling market at Złota Street, where vendors sell everything from artisanal pierogi to hand‑ripped amber. If you’re craving a bite, the tiny café on St. George’s Square serves the best espresso in town—just trust me on that. The Motława River is a short stroll away, and on a sunny day you can watch the boats glide by, the water reflecting the sky. For a quieter evening, the apartment’s noise level is pretty decent; the only thing that might rattle the walls is the occasional honk from a delivery truck on the main street, which is pretty normal in a city that’s always alive. Parking is a bit of a dance, honestly. There’s a small municipal lot a few blocks away, but it fills up fast during peak season, so I’d suggest either using a bike rack (the city has plenty of them) or arranging a taxi if you’re carrying a lot of luggage.

The best time to visit, from a local’s perspective, is late September to early October. By then, the crowds thin out, the air is crisp, and the city’s festivals are still in full swing—think the Gdańsk International Film Festival or the historic Christmas market, depending on the season. If you’re a night owl, you’ll find that the streets around the hotel calm down after 10 p.m., making it easy to wind down after a day of exploring. I left with a feeling of having truly been there, not just seen. Apartament Targ Rybny – Gdańsk Old Town is a place that gives you a sense of belonging in the heart of the city, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone looking to soak up Gdańsk’s charm without the usual tourist noise.

Hotel in Gdansk booking should be done early, especially during summer festivals when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural and maritime events.

Reviews of Apartament Targ Rybny – Gdańsk Old Town

  • Rimkevicius from Lithuania – 22 November 2024 (9/10)

Apartment located in very good place for visiting old part of town.

  • Annette from United Kingdom – 3 December 2023 (8/10)

The apartment was very well equipped, beautiful wall picture. Very quiet and warm.

We stayed in the same block before covid. Loved it so much, we came back.

Old town area is beautiful, peaceful and just what we wanted.

The bedroom was big enough, mattress was possibly the best we have ever slept on!

What could be improved: Bit of an odour from the bathroom, but as we were out every day it didn't bother us that much.

Would have liked to have met the owner as it would be nice to thank them personally.

When bad weather, maybe another mat inside for the wet shoes as floor got rather slippy

  • Afridi from Sweden – 11 September 2023 (8/10)

  • Giorgi from Georgia – 1 May 2023 (8/10)

This apartment is located in the best place in Gdańsk. It is very clean, equipped with all the necessary things, has a kind host and most importantly, it is very comfortable. Thanks for the hospitality and if you plan to travel to Gdańsk, I recommend staying here

What could be improved: ეს აპარტამენტი მდებარეობს გდანსკში საუკეთესო ადგილზე.არის ძალიან სუფთა,ყველა საჭირო ნივთით აღჭურვილი,კეთილგანწყობილი მასპინძელი ჰყავს და რაც მთავარია ძალიან კომფორტულია.მადლობა მასპინძლობისთვის და თუ დაგეგმავთ გდანსკში მიგზაურობას გურჩევთ აქ დაბინავებას.

  • Rob from United Kingdom – 8 November 2022 (9/10)

Great Location, facilities were good. Decor was well presented in all rooms. Price was excellent for what we had. The instructions from the owner were clear to understand and easy to follow.

What could be improved: Strange smell from the WC other than that it was perfect.

  • Emil from Bulgaria – 7 August 2022 (8/10)

It's difficult to imagine a better location in Gdansk where you can park your car so easily. Stylish modern apartment. Highly recommended.

  • Ieva from Lithuania – 6 August 2022 (9/10)
