Apartament Tarasy Overview

When I first walked into Apartament Tarasy, the first thing that hit me was the open-plan living area that spills onto a balcony overlooking the water—yes, the Vistula itself, not the Baltic. The view is actually breathtaking at sunset, when the city lights flicker on and the sky turns a bruised purple. Inside, the décor is a mix of mid-century polish chic and modern polish minimalism, with a few quirky pieces that look like they were curated by a local designer, not a corporate chain. The staff at the front desk were quick, but not robotic; they gave me a map of the city with a few off‑beat spots they swear are worth a detour—like that hidden pier on the old port that’s still used for fishing. They mentioned that parking is free in the underground lot right on Tarasy 11, which is great because parking on the waterfront can be a nightmare. (Seriously, I’ve walked past parking lots for ages and never found a spot until the last minute.)

The rooms at Apartament Tarasy are surprisingly spacious for a 4‑star rating. I stayed in a double that had a balcony with a tiny kitchenette—perfect for a quick coffee or a midnight snack. The bed was a bit firmer than my usual, but the mattress topper they offered made it cozy. The bathroom had a rain shower that actually felt like a spa, not the usual hotel shower with a weak spray. The noise level is usually quiet; there’s a bit of city hum from the street, but the building’s insulation keeps it to a minimum. The only complaint I had was the small fridge—it’s more of a mini‑fridge, but for a two‑night stay that was fine. Check‑in was smooth; they had an app that let you unlock the door with your phone, so you didn’t have to wait for a bellboy. The front desk staff were friendly, and one of them told me about a local market that opens on Wednesdays, called the Gdańsk Fish Market—if you’re into fresh seafood, don’t miss it.

Walking out into the street, I realized how well Apartament Tarasy is tucked into the heart of the city without feeling like a tourist trap. The street itself, Tarasy, is lined with a mix of old wooden houses and new cafés. On the left, you’ll find a tiny bookshop that sells local literature, and on the right, a bakery that still uses the original family recipe for “pierogi.” If you’re looking for a night out, there’s a jazz bar just two blocks away that’s loud but lively, which is great if you’re in the mood for some local music. For a quieter evening, the park near the waterfront is a perfect spot to sit on a bench and watch the boats. Timing-wise, the summer is busy, and the street gets crowded around 6 pm, but the early mornings are peaceful—great for a morning walk or a quick jog. The hotel itself is open 24/7, so if you need a coffee at 3 am, the front desk can arrange a small cup for you, which I found incredibly convenient.

All in all, Apartament Tarasy feels like a home away from home. It’s not flashy, but it’s functional, clean, and has that local vibe that makes you feel like you’re part of the city’s rhythm. If you’re planning a trip to Gdańsk and want to stay somewhere that feels authentic rather than generic, give this place a shot. Trust me, the blend of old charm and modern comfort, plus the insider tips from the staff, will make your stay memorable—and you’ll probably come back to the same street to grab a coffee or a pastry, just like a local.

Hotel in Gdansk booking should be done early, especially during summer festivals when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural and maritime events.
