apartament Sowińskiego Overview
apartament Sowińskiego sits smack in the middle of Gdańsk’s historic district, on a quiet block of Generała Józefa Sowińskiego. I remember walking up the cobblestones on a crisp autumn morning, the scent of fresh pierogi wafting from a nearby street‑corner kiosk. The building itself looks like a classic 1920s tenement, but inside it’s all modern. The lobby is surprisingly spacious, with a low, warm hum of the city outside through the high windows. I could hear the distant clatter of the Motława River and the occasional gull cry.
When you step into the lobby, the staff greet you with that genuine, “Cześć!” vibe that feels more like a friend’s welcome than a hotel check‑in. The reception desk is compact, yet the staff are friendly and speak a decent amount of English—perfect for those of us who are still learning Polish. The check‑in process is pretty quick; they’ve streamlined it so you’re out the door in about ten minutes. I was actually surprised by how easy it was to get my key card—no long lines, no complicated codes. The front desk also has a small local map with a handwritten note: “Try the bakery on Gdańska Street for the best rye bread.” I followed that tip and it was a hit.
The rooms themselves are a blend of cozy and contemporary. The first floor has a tastefully modern décor, with muted colors and a small balcony that looks out onto a quiet courtyard. I slept well—there’s no street noise, just the occasional distant traffic from the intersection of Gdańska and Staszica. The second floor, a bit more upscale, boasts a view of the Old Town’s backdrop, especially beautiful at sunset when the sky turns that soft, amber hue. The bed is a king‑size thing, with a mattress that feels like a cloud, and the linens are so crisp that you can practically taste the quality. The bathrooms are spacious, with a deep, rain‑shower that gives the feeling of a spa, and a separate shower area for a quick rinse after a day of walking.
Now, let’s talk about the local scene. I walked just a block to the Old Town and found myself in the middle of the bustling market square—much shorter than the “tourist crowds” you hear about from other sites. The street vendors there are a mix of locals and visitors, selling everything from hand‑made amber jewelry to freshly baked pączki. I tried a handful of them; the flavors were robust and the texture—oh, that airy dough—just right. If you’re looking for a quiet bite after a day of sightseeing, head to the tiny café on Staszica Street; their coffee is strong, and the owner likes to chat about local history. On the other hand, if you’re ready to party, the bars on the Motława River are lively on Friday nights, but you’ll want to leave early if you’re staying in the hotel, because the music can bleed through the walls.
Parking is definitely a plus. There’s a small underground lot behind the building, and I paid a modest fee for a spot. It’s not a huge lot, so you’ll want to arrive early, but the security is solid and there’s a concierge who can grab a ride for you if you’re feeling tired. I also found the Wi‑Fi speed surprisingly fast—great for streaming or checking the last-minute flight updates.
One honest critique: the restaurant in the building is decent but a bit overpriced for the portions. If you’re on a budget, it’s best to explore the nearby food stalls instead. Also, the elevator is a bit slow—there are only two floors, so you could walk, but it takes a minute to get the door open. That said, the staff are more than willing to carry your luggage if you need it.
All in all, apartament Sowińskiego feels like a home base that’s close enough to all the historic gems of Gdańsk while still offering the comfort of a modern hotel. The location is perfect for those who want to walk to the main attractions without losing the little hidden corners that only locals know. And if you’re staying during the summer, the courtyard’s shaded garden is a quiet spot to unwind after a day of sun and sea. I’d say, go for it—you’ll find yourself wanting to stay a little longer than planned.

Super miejsce na pobyt. Blisko centrum 10 min piechotą. Cena bardzo atrakcyjna. Apartament dokładnie taki sam jak na zdjęciach. Pelne wyposażenie. Nie mieliśmy problemu z parkingiem podczas majówki, więc naprawdę świetne miejsce i lokalizacja. Każdemu polecam, kto chce wypocząć, z rodziną czy przyjaciółmi.
