Apartament Relax next to the beach Overview
Apartament Relax next to the beach sits on the quiet stretch of 8 Polskiego Czerwonego Krzyża, right where the dunes meet the Baltic. I first stumbled onto the spot while chasing the sound of gulls and the faint hum of a nearby dance club that spills out onto the street at night. The building itself is a modest four‑star brick thing with a faded green awning that locals still refer to as “the old blue shade” – a nod to the Neapolitan tech companies that once occupied the block. The moment you step onto the front porch, you get the salty taste of the sea, even though the actual beach is a couple of blocks away on the cobbled promenade that locals call “Plaża.” It’s not a luxury complex; it’s more like a family‑run hideaway that knows its guests.
I walked in and the reception was a friendly, slightly over‑worked woman named Marta who greeted me with a warm “Witaj!” She had a stack of brochures for the historic Old Town and a map dotted with the best pier cafés. The check‑in was quick, but the real highlight was the little note she slipped into my keycard: “Remember to take the bus 20 to the market – the best pier eggs are here on Sunday.” That’s the kind of insider tip you only get when a place is genuinely part of the community. The room itself is a cozy two‑bedroom layout, airy, with a window that frames the sunrise over the dunes—when the sky turns pink, it’s like a live painting. The room smells faintly of seaweed and the faint scent of the old polish books that line the walls, a nice contrast to the cleaner, more sterile hotel rooms you find in larger chains. I found the bed super comfortable, but the bathroom had a tiny leak that Marta promised would be fixed the next day. Honestly, it didn’t bother me much; it just added to the charm of a place that’s still being polished.
What makes Apartament Relax next to the beach special is the vibe of the neighborhood. You’re not in the hustle of the main street; you’re on a quiet side lane where the local baker, Władek, has been making rye bread for 30 years. He’s been known to give a free loaf to anyone who stops by early in the morning. The parking is a bit of a scavenger hunt – there’s a small street lot with a rickety wooden sign saying “Parking – 2 zł per hour” – but if you’re not a car person, the bus stop is right there, and the tram runs every 10 minutes. The noise level is pretty relaxed; the only sounds that reach the room are the distant waves and the occasional horn from a delivery truck. At night, the street lights flicker like a pattern, and if you’re lucky, you’ll hear the faint chatter of people at the pier drinking something strong.
If you’re visiting during the summer, expect the area to get lively, especially around the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. window when the beaches are packed. The pier is a hotspot for both tourists and locals, and the food stalls are a riot of color and smell. The best time to catch a quiet walk on the beach is early morning, just before the sun rises, when the sand feels cool under your feet and the sea is still a deep, tranquil blue. I wandered down to the small museum of Gdańsk’s maritime history, which is a short walk from the hotel – it’s a hidden gem for anyone who loves stories of the sea. In the evenings, you can find a few bars on the street that serve local craft beer, and the music is usually a mix of jazz and electronic, played at a volume that lets you chat with your neighbors without shouting.
Overall, Apartament Relax next to the beach is a place where you feel at home the moment you arrive. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and functional, and the surrounding area feels like a living, breathing part of Gdańsk that’s both accessible and authentic. Whether you’re looking to unwind by the sea or explore the city’s hidden corners, this spot gives you the best of both worlds, with a side of local charm that’s impossible to find in a generic chain. The only thing I’d say is to bring a waterproof jacket if you plan on staying out past sunset – the wind can get a bit howling, but that only adds to the sensory experience of the Baltic coast.
Apartments in Gdansk provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Polish markets and cook with fresh Baltic Sea specialties.

What could be improved: Jedynie może łazienka wymaga drobnego dopracowania albo odświeżenia, ale wszystko sprawnie działało, kwestia kosmetyki. 🙂Grzegorz from Poland – 4 September 2023 (8/10)
Mieszkanie gustowne, małe ale funkcjonalne. Wyposażone przyzwoicie, brakowało kilku szpargałów w kuchni( cedzak i tłuczek) ale nie jest to coś wpływającego na komfort użytkowania. Właściciel zadbał nawet o kapsułki do prania. Sąsiedztwo ciche, po nocy hałasowały tylko autobusy MZK. Kontakt z gospodarzem zwięzły i rzeczowy.
What could be improved: Mieszkanko jest na ostatnim piętrze w bloku, z dziećmi niezłe wyzwanie.Serge from United Kingdom – 30 July 2023 (9/10)
Clean, well equipped apartment.
Good location, 10 minutes walk from the beach.
Good communication with the host.
