First Impressions

Walking up to Apartament IGO OLD TOWN on Warzywnicza Street, you immediately understand why this place gets such incredible location scores. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Gdańsk’s Old Town — the kind of spot where you can hear the church bells from St. Mary’s and practically smell the amber shops around the corner. This four-star apartment sits in one of those beautifully restored buildings that somehow manages to feel both historic and completely livable at the same time.

The Heart of Old Town

What strikes me most about this location is how genuinely central it is without feeling touristy or overwhelming. You’re a two-minute walk from the famous Long Market (Długi Targ), but tucked away on a quieter street that locals actually use. I’ve noticed couples seem to absolutely love it here — honestly, there’s something romantic about stepping out your door and being surrounded by those colorful merchant houses and cobblestone streets. The Neptune Fountain is right there, the Crane (Żuraw) is visible from certain angles, and you can walk to the Motława River in about three minutes.

The Space Itself

The room feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed city flat than a typical hotel. There’s this nice balance between modern comfort and respecting the building’s character — you know, original details where they matter but updated everything where you actually need it to work. The kitchen is properly equipped, which I appreciate because sometimes you want to grab fresh bread from the morning market and make coffee without hunting for a café. The windows face the street, so you get that authentic Old Town atmosphere (along with some street sounds, but that’s part of the charm).

Getting Around

Here’s what I really like — you don’t need to think about transportation much when you’re staying here. Everything worth seeing in the Old Town is walkable, and I mean actually walkable, not “walkable if you don’t mind hiking.” The Main Town Hall, Artus Court, the amber museum — they’re all within a few blocks. If you want to venture to Westerplatte or the shipyards, the tram stops are close enough. Parking can be tricky in this area (it’s Old Town, after all), but honestly, once you’re here, you probably won’t need your car much anyway.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.2 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve spent a night here. It’s the kind of place where location really does everything — you’re not just visiting Gdańsk, you’re actually living in it for a few days. The apartment gives you independence and space, while the setting puts you right in the middle of one of Poland’s most beautiful historic centers. I think what couples particularly love is being able to wander out for dinner, maybe have a drink by the river, and then come back to their own quiet space in this incredible setting. It feels authentic in a way that bigger hotels sometimes don’t.

  pros: the location was great as was the communication from the manager. The view of the sailing ship right outside the window was charming.
  
  What could be improved: cons: bathroom a little small, noise from outside was hit and miss – at times, ridiculously loud (there was a stag party going on in the restaurant below). Sometimes building neighbors were loud, though not the fault of the manager; we saw alot of stag and hen groups in Gdańsk all weekend. Weekdays are quieter.
