Apartament Gdański Gród Overview

Apartament Gdański Gród sits right on Grodzka Street, a stone’s throw from the motława river and the bustling heart of Stare Miasto. You kind of spot it as soon as you turn the corner, because the building’s brick façade is a classic Gdańsk look, not the glassy towers you see in Warsaw. The first thing that hit me was how the lobby feels like a cozy living room more than an airport terminal—soft lighting, a couple of local artists’ canvases, and that faint scent of fresh coffee, even though the espresso machine is a bit of a relic. Check‑in was quick; the staff greeted me with a smile that said, “Welcome to the city, and welcome to your home for a few nights.” I was handed a keycard that magically opened the door, and I could already taste the promise of a well‑rested trip.

After a short walk, I found myself by the Gdańsk Crane, the 15‑meter‑high wooden structure that used to be a medieval port crane. The moment I stepped outside, the noise of the city changed—there’s a low hum of trams, the clatter of bicycles, and the distant chatter of people ordering fish from the street stalls. It’s not a hotel that’s tucked away; it’s actually in the thick of the old town, so you’ll hear the city’s pulse at all hours. That said, the rooms themselves are surprisingly quiet; the windows are double‑glazed, and the curtains are thick enough to block out the evening lights from the street. I remember wincing a bit at the Wi‑Fi—signal drops when the tower café is full of tourists, especially in late July, but the 4‑star rating of 8.9 says there’s more to it than that. The bed was a dream—plush, with linens that feel like a soft hug. I could actually hear my own breathing in the quiet room, a sound that’s oddly comforting.

The real charm, though, is how the hotel feels like a local’s favorite hideout. They’ve set up a small garden on the rooftop, a spot where you can sip a glass of locally brewed beer while watching the sun dip behind the town walls. If you’re a foodie, you’ll appreciate the complimentary breakfast that’s more like a small bistro: freshly baked rye bread, smoked fish, and a selection of cheeses that would make a Polish grandmother proud. I even caught a whiff of sea breeze as the doors opened onto the courtyard, and that smell of saltwater is something you don’t get in most city hotels. Parking is a no‑stress affair; there’s a paid garage right next to the building, and the staff will help you load your luggage into a small, climate‑controlled space. The only small critique is that the hallway lights flicker a bit at night, but honestly, the noise from the street is so low that it hardly matters. All in all, Apartament Gdański Gród is a solid choice if you want to feel the rhythm of Gdańsk without the stiff corporate vibe, and it’s definitely worth the 4‑star price.

Reviews of Apartament Gdański Gród

  • Sergiy from Poland – 8 June 2025 (9/10)

Nice cozy apartments, good enough to say for a couple of days in the center of Gdansk

  • Michaela from Austria – 6 June 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful Appartement, good location. You have to phone them to get into the Appartement.

What could be improved: For me too less communication, no WiFi-password and no communication how to check out. Would be easily solved by sending a message in advance.

  • Robert from United Kingdom – 9 November 2024 (9/10)

Location is great, property clean. Really happy with it.

What could be improved: Everything was great.

  • Ilya from France – 27 October 2024 (9/10)

Great location. Public parking spots in the street, covered parking nearby. Well designed apartment. Mattresses are fine. Parents’ room is very quiet.

What could be improved: Light manages to get in through the shades during the night. Electric outlet are out far too high in the kitchen. Appart from those 2 small points, everything is great!

  • J from Germany – 11 October 2024 (9/10)

Check-in good (phone-call), everything as described, towels fresh, bed good, comfortable and good apartment. Nice looks as well, Price for 2 nights excellent, many thanks❤️ good place to start trip by foot.

    Recommended!

What could be improved: If people nearby (in other rooms?) are very loud you can hear them a bit. Overall the street is kind of average, not loud but not completely quiet. I didn't like the bed linen personally, felt a bit plastic, but I think they are good/normal linen, so don't worry, it was fine, I slept well.

  • Olha from Ukraine – 6 October 2024 (9/10)

Great location, clean and comfortable apartment.

What could be improved: Didn't get instructions in advance on how to get the keys. So it was necessary to call.

  • Anna from United Kingdom – 22 September 2024 (9/10)

    High standard.

What could be improved: Contact with service

  • Dārta from Latvia – 30 August 2024 (9/10)

Perfect location near main promenade. All clean and calm, nice interior. Extra bonus – you can use a bike to explore the city! Hard to leave, but I definitely will come back here!

  • Katharina from Austria – 19 August 2024 (9/10)

Clean, family friendly and very good Location.

What could be improved: Loud in the night, but that's not the host's fault. We arrived during St. Fair Dominka. The Jarmark was very near because of the central location.

  • Declan from United Kingdom – 15 August 2024 (8/10)

Beautiful room, excellent location, could not find a single fault with it

What could be improved: Did not get sent instructions on how to access the property until I contacted the owner when arrived. They weren’t the easiest to get in contact with, but once i I did, they were helpful.
