Apartament Gdańsk Centrum Old Town Overview

I first stumbled into the front door of Apartament Gdańsk Centrum Old Town on a rain‑slick Saturday morning, right off the cobbled lanes of Ogarna. The building itself is a charming two‑storey townhouse that feels like a slice of history, its façade weathered in the same gray tones as the nearby Motława River. When you step inside, the smell of freshly brewed espresso from the tiny kitchen nook hits you—honestly, it’s the kind of aroma that makes you feel instantly at home. The reception desk is manned by a local lad who greeted me with a warm smile and handed over a key card with a quick nod, “Check‑in is quick, but no 24‑hour concierge, so plan ahead if you need anything last minute.” I mean, it’s a small place, but the staff are friendly and genuinely helpful.

The real charm lies in its unbeatable proximity to the heart of Gdańsk. After grabbing a coffee at the café across the street, I found myself walking past St. Mary’s Church, its spire piercing the gray sky, and the long market square—Dlugi Targ—where locals haggle over fresh pierogi and vintage postcards. The old town bridge, a stone archway connecting the Old Town and the Motława, is just a two‑minute stroll away, and every evening I could hear the distant bells echoing from the cathedral. For a bit of relief, there’s a small parking garage a block down, though street parking can be a scramble during peak tourist season. Noise-wise, the area is lively by day—tourists, vendors, the rhythmic clatter of the city—but by midnight it settles into a gentle hush, the only sounds being a soft murmur of conversation and the occasional distant siren.

If I had to give a quick critique, the Wi‑Fi is a bit spotty, which is a bummer for those who need to catch up on emails, but the overall vibe is one of relaxed authenticity. You’ll notice that the bathrooms are functional, though a fresh coat of paint would make them feel a touch more upscale. The room itself is compact but well‑decorated, with a small balcony that offers a view of the old stone walls—perfect for sipping a glass of local wine while listening to the city’s nocturnal lullaby. During the summer, the streets buzz with energy and the air carries the scent of fresh bread from the nearby bakery, whereas winter brings a quiet calm, the snow muffling the usual chatter. All in all, staying at Apartament Gdańsk Centrum Old Town felt like having a cozy, reliable base in the midst of Gdańsk’s historic charm—something I’d recommend to anyone who wants to live like a local, even if just for a few nights.

Reviews of Apartament Gdańsk Centrum Old Town

  • Aurelijus from Lithuania – 7 September 2024 (9/10)

Location and free parking is the main reason we booked this place. Apartment is the old house that doesn't look very fancy but apartment is well renovated and equiped. Old city, restaurants and cafes are in few minutes.

What could be improved: Towels were very old.

  • David from Czech Republic – 29 August 2024 (9/10)

Skvělá lokalita, ubytování na jedničku. Předání klíčů bez problémů.

    What could be improved: Nic

  • Katarzyna from Poland – 26 August 2024 (9/10)

Bardzo dobra lokalizacja, komfortowe mieszkanie, wyposażone we wszystko co potrzebne, czyste. Zdecydowanie polecam.

  • K from Greece – 21 June 2024 (1/10)

Location is very good, however entrance to the flat is from the backyard and is not very pleasant.

What could be improved: The host and reception was the worst we have ever experienced. Despite of agreeing our arrival time for 4 pm, host has never sent us the checking in instructions despite the several messages from us which were not answered. We were at the building entrance door at 4 pm, as agreed, standing in cold and rain and we could not get in. The host didn’t answer her phone neither reply to our messages for one hour. After booking.com intervention we have finally got a code to enter the building. The entrance is very unpleasant, old, smelly staircase. All in all, despite of the good location, we wouldn’t stay there again. The unprofessional and unreliable host ruined completely our experience.

  • Juho from Finland – 31 March 2024 (9/10)

    Parking was well arranged

What could be improved: Bathroom door handle was loose

  • Aleš from Czech Republic – 3 August 2023 (9/10)

Comfortable, clean, tasteful and well-equipped apartment in a typical house in the Old Town of Gdansk. Great central location, within walking distance of all major sights. Free parking in the courtyard. Good and helpful communication with the host.

    What could be improved: —

  • Matúš from Slovakia – 1 July 2023 (8/10)

The location is perfect, very close to the city centre with all major attractions in a walking distance. The accommodation is spacious and well-equipped.

What could be improved: There was constant smell at the staircase, which was really unpleasant every time after opening the entrance door.

  • Izabella from Poland – 25 June 2023 (9/10)

So soo nice and clean apartment in the perfect location just in the old town of Gdańsk, and very nice and helpful host 🙂 it was one of my best bookings (and I had many:p )

  • Olena from Poland – 20 April 2023 (9/10)

Nice and cozy apartment at the heart of historical area in Gdansk. Very clean and fresh, stuffed with all basic items you need for a couple of days stay. One of the very few places proposing a parking place, which was important for me. I see some people complaint about the size of apartment – well, it was totally ok for us, 2 adults and 2 kids. Definitely recommend.

What could be improved: Very minor comments with marginal impact on overall impression:
    – we couldnt turn on TV, but I didnt bother to ask for help;
    – no hairdryer, you need to take your own (at least we couldn't find it).
    – Street sound isolation is not perfect if you are sensitive to noise.
    – bed linen for sofa was pure syntethic, I woke up fully electrified 🙂
