Apartament Ducha 1 Overview
Apartament Ducha 1 sits tucked between the historic arches of Świętego Ducha Street and the bustling market lanes of Gdańsk. The moment you step through the door, the scent of freshly brewed Polish coffee from the corner kiosk on Gdańska Street drifts in, mingling with the faint salty tang of the Baltic that seeps through the high, slightly wobbly windows. I’ve been here twice now, and honestly, the place feels more like a home than a hotel. The lobby is a modest, warm space with a wooden bar that locals call “the heart of the old town.” The staff greet you with a friendly “Dzień dobry!” and one of the attendants actually shows you where the best pierogi stand is—just a block away, down the narrow lane that turns into a cobblestone path. The check‑in process is quick, no long queues; they even let you grab a free mug of hot chocolate if you’re early, which is a nice touch when the winter air bites.
The rooms are a real treat. They’re small but smartly furnished, with just the right amount of local charm—think brass lamp fixtures and a small Polaroid frame that has your photo of the layered amber windows. The beds are firm, and the sheets have that slightly rough texture you love when you’re trying to get out of bed in the morning. Each room comes with a private balcony that offers a view of the street where you can hear the clatter of bicycle wheels and the occasional shout from a street musician playing a polka tune. It’s quiet at night, but you’ll still catch that faint hum of the city—an almost comforting background noise. The bathrooms are functional, with a decent shower that’s hot enough to wash away even the most stubborn sea salt. I mean, the only thing I’d tweak is the towel layout—they’re a bit spooled up, but that’s a minor annoyance that doesn’t ruin the vibe.
Parking is a bit of a hassle. There’s a small municipal lot a few streets over, but you’ll need a parking permit, which the front desk will help you sort out for a modest fee. If you’re driving, consider dropping off the car in the parking garage at the nearest metro station—just a ten‑minute walk, and you’ll have the convenience of a free, secure spot. The hotel’s location is clever: you’re close enough to walk to the Royal Way (Ulica Królewska) and the Old Town’s cobbled streets, yet far enough that you won’t be woken by the night market’s loud chatter. The breakfast spot on the mezzanine is a hidden gem; they serve a hearty local porridge with fresh cranberries, and the barista knows the best way to brew a “polish latte” that’s strong but not too bitter. During peak tourist season, early morning crowds can get a bit cramped, but the staff rolls out a towel to keep the line moving, and the staff’s patience is genuine—no one feels rushed.
When you step outside, you’re immediately drawn into the city’s rhythm: the smell of grilled sausage from the street vendor on Długa Street, the distant echo of church bells from St. Mary’s Basilica, and the rhythmic clack of trams passing by. I’ve found that the best moments are the quiet ones—staying in the balcony at 10 pm, watching the city lights flicker like fireflies. If you’re a foodie, the neighbors in the building often recommend the best pierogi spot within a 200‑meter radius. It’s all about the small, authentic experiences that make Apartament Ducha 1 feel like a local’s hideaway rather than a generic tourist trap. So, if you’re looking for a place that feels like home in the heart of Gdańsk, this is the spot where you’ll feel you belong—only with a few more conveniences and a lot more charm.
Hotels in Gdansk offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of this Baltic gem, with easy access to shipyards, museums, and coastal attractions.

Excellent location and the size of the property
What could be improved: cleanliness – especially of the floorsKornel from Czech Republic – 16 October 2023 (6/10)
The location was great, close to the city centre but still pretty quiet.
What could be improved: The dirt and dust. You don't realize it at first but it really comes under your skin after a while. Also, as the property is located in the city centre, you need special permission to park your car in front of the apartment and even to come near to it (you can get fined – as were we by the municipal police). If you want to park for free, you need to find a spot which can be pretty far away.Pilar from Spain – 22 September 2023 (9/10)
