The check‑in was quick – no long lines, just a personable receptionist who remembered my name and handed me a key card with a grin. I mean, that’s not something you get at every hotel, especially in a city where the tourist crowds sometimes feel a bit too thick.

The room itself is a little smaller than the typical hotel suite, but the designers made up for that with a layout that feels spacious. The bed is a king sleeper with a texture that feels like a hug, and the curtains run all the way to the floor, which is great for those early‑morning naps after a day on the pier. The bathroom is a clean, modern space with a rain shower that actually feels like a gentle mist – a nice touch for a city that can get a bit damp. I also appreciated the little details: a French press in the kitchenette, a selection of teas from the local market, and a map of Gdańsk’s hidden cafés that I can’t wait to use. The Wi‑Fi is solid, and the TV has a decent selection of Polish channels, which is perfect if you want to catch a local show before bed.

Now, let’s talk about the neighborhood, because that’s where Apartament Aviator really shines. From the lobby, there’s a quick walk past the bustling stalls of the Żabnica market, where you can sniff out fresh pierogi and a latte that smokes just right. A few blocks away, the Old Town’s cobblestones whisper stories of the Hanseatic League, and the sound of the harbor lapping against the Old Port is a constant, soothing background hum. The best part is that the hotel’s location is close enough to the city center that you can hop on a tram or a bike and be in front of the cathedral in under ten minutes, but it’s far enough away that you can close the door and hear nothing but your own breathing – unless, of course, you’re staying during the summer season, when the city’s nightlife starts to stir.

Parking is a bit of a mixed bag. There’s a small underground lot that the hotel offers for a fee, and as far as Gdańsk goes, that’s fairly standard. The downside is that you’re required to pay for each night, and the lot is a bit cramped; you’ll have to squeeze a car into the space, but hey, that’s the city. Noise-wise, the apartment building is surprisingly quiet for its age; the only disturbance is the occasional traffic rumble from aleja Jana Pawła II, which, honestly, is barely noticeable once you get settled. If you’re a light sleeper, you might want to double‑check the bed’s firmness, but for the most part, it’s a restful environment.

The breakfast at Apartament Aviator is a real treat – a spread of local cheeses, freshly baked rye bread, and a selection of cold cuts that would make any Polish foodie swoon. The tea sampler is also a nice touch, especially after a day of exploring the city’s many museums and galleries. The staff were friendly, and they had a few insider tips about the best places to eat around Łękawka Street (the one with the quirky cafés and gelato shops). If you’re staying in Gdańsk for a few days, I’d say this place is a solid base: it’s comfortable, it’s close to most of the action, and it has that little extra polish that makes a good stay feel like a home away from home.
